President Obama to Attend 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic

The White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama will attend the Quicken Loans Carrier Classic on November 11, 2011.
“”This Veterans Day, President Obama will honor our nation’s veterans by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery and then by traveling to San Diego, California, to attend the Carrier Classic on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson,” the White House said in a statement. “He looks forward to a great game between Michigan State and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”

Navy Federal Supports First College Basketball Game on Navy Aircraft

Navy Federal Credit Union is partnering with the Carrier Classic for the first game of the college basketball season on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2011in San Diego, CA. Newport News Shipbuilding to Design and Build Carrier Classic Trophy

Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) announced today that the company’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is designing and building the trophy for the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic Division I Men’s Basketball game. NNS’s participation to build the trophy was announced and a trophy mock-up was unveiled during a press luncheon this morning at the New York Athletic Club.

Inaugural 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic Set for 11-11-11

he Michigan State Spartans and North Carolina Tar Heels will tip-off the 2011 college basketball season before 7,000 spectators on the massive flight deck of the United States Navy aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson on Veterans Day – November 11, 2011. The vessel will be docked at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego harbor. The 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic will honor and entertain the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. The event is the first of its kind.
